HC Experience Two on Urban-Planning Lecture

HC Experience Life Lesson

On Wednesday, we had our honorable guest speaker given a lecture on urban planning. Ive learned a lot from him.
Frankly speaking, Im an illiterate in the 21st century. The fast development of Internet, engineering almost kill my peaceful, serene life and I have little interest in them. So long before the lecture, Ive psychologically prepared for my sleep in such a lecture focusing on these annoying topics for me.
Unbelievably, it turned out to be a meaty lesson for me.

What Ive learned:
·      Planning is about science and art.
The quality of your plans decides what you can achieve, the efficiency of your daily work and how high the level you can reach.
·      Planning is carried out by People.
Only people can design plans and ONLY PEOPLE can determine the implement of plans and degree of plans excellences.
Just as the example used by Professor Cui, the masterpiece –“efficient parking design, although successfully carried out in many developed European countries is strongly rejected by Macau residents.
It shows that people are the heart of executing. Only if they are persuaded or realize the importance of changing themselves, will plans turn to reality.
·      Creativity is to do the old things in new ways.
·      The society and what weve learned in the ivory tower may be at opposite poles
In society, EQ is more important than IQ; the general knowledge weighs heavier than professional knowledge; even though you sown, you may reaps little.
·The time facing adversity may be the most productive duration of your life.
Throughout Chinese history we can easily find so many famous poets or masterpieces were accomplished during the hardest times of the master. Adversity is the time for people to cool down a little bit, to learn a lesson from it, and then to try the best to make up. It will contribute to the maturity of a person. So next time when we are in difficulties, simple laugh it off and enjoy the potential productive part of our life.

·We are living in a competitive world, struggling for resources and time.
The world is becoming flatter. Walls and fences are replaced by bridges. Globalization and internationalization is the trend of the present age. Competitions are the on the daily agenda. To keep Serene” while being the masters of our life:
·      We should build our core competency and utilize our opportunities.
For example, to have competitive advantages over others for Macau students, we may master Portuguese, taking the advantages of the environment hereformer colony of Portugal.
We should value our time and enrich our life.
·      Life is too short to squander. There are too many things for us to try, which may bring shining, splendid experiences. We have no reason not to make full use of it to maximize the value of life.
