Guess: Who Are We?

Reflection from Wednesday’s Lecture,

Criteria for an excellent student leader:

A student leader SHOULD:

Not be rude.

Not be disrespectful. It means that a good leader should not speak bad words behind others; otherwise, he or she will betray his or her characters.

Not be hurtful. Instead, a good leader should be one who is always willing to giving a helping hand to people in need.

Not be immoral. A good leader should be ethical to possess dignity to be a better person.

“We can never stop until good becomes better and better becomes best”.

“A leader is a position of SERVICE AND BURDEN”.

Life is not always full of sunny days, thus when rainy days arrive, we should face the music. Life is already hard and tough; therefore, we have no reason not to find every way to light up our spirit to enjoy every day of our life. Yes, life is too short for us to regret what we have done. Nothing can be changed, if you only complain about how unlucky you are or how poor your life is. What you can only do is to live every single day to the fullest and keep hope in your mind. Hope is best thing in our life and maybe the best of all. With hope in mind, we can have peace. With hope, we have a belief in the world and people around. With hope, the chaos and sufferings of our life will not be so unacceptable. With hope, we know whatever happens, the world will simply keep moving on.

AIESEC is on the Way

AIESEC (@) and Our Journey towards it
----------------------Celebrate Tomorrow’s Formal Meeting with JC
Special Thanks to Professor Udani and Javier for their great efforts in helping us.

“Life is all about trying to make up Your Mind”.
“You NEVER know until you TRY. You NEVER try unless you really TRY!”

Anything can happen, if you take the chance! My experience with @ is a sound proof.

-Two years ago, a request of establishment of AIESEC was turned down.
-A year ago, an enquiry of AIESEC was refused.
-Now, with my dedicated coworkers: Brian, Amanda, Michael, Crystal and me, the establishment is on the way!
-And not long from now, we are confident that, AIESEC will find its unique place here in UM!

The Key to Success(upcoming):
"If you are not confident in yourself, let alone others".
At the beginning, I was not confident, because one of my idols-Flora in UM had tried but failed. Others who might initially passionated lose their interests gradually. Many of my senior and junior firends standed behind me and gave me trust and support. Strongly attracted by @ culture and encouraged by peers , I eventually take the role as the "Leader of Leaders". It was really chanllenging and even harder than the negotiation part I undertook later, because all of my core members are top leaders in their own fields. Brian is almost the "hero" I find in UM, Michael is the most talented student leader I've ever met, Crystal is both a specialist in academics and activities, Amanda ....HOW? I was just too shy and my face turned red, when I only had oral talks with them. Then it came Michael's kind words encouraging me to utilize my talents and function as a leader of the group and be confident in myself.
After being together for a long time, I gradually picked up my confidence and even as the key person to assign tasks for individuals. And I could divident the tasks according to the members' talents.

Multi-Task Management
To build up a students' union needs huge mount of time. Even the casual time orginally for sleeping or other planned social activities would have to be postphone. Time management is an art and efficiency can change the way you do things.
We're growing older and the course work is heavier. Only if we manage our time well, can we not sacrafice study time for activity time. To balance the activities and studies is even harder, after I started to realize the self-fulfillment of mine, Brian's, Amanda's, Michael's.

The Spirit of Utter Devotion
For Michael and Brian, they are already in Year Four and have found their jobs or postgraduate schools. The activities are no longer that important for them at this stage. For Amanda and Crystal, they are gonna become seniors, when their time will be devoted into GMAT or Preparation for job-huntings. More activities means less for them. For me, I also will have exchange program in my third year, during which I can manage @'s development as well.
Thus, for all of us, the establishment of AIESEC is more or less the kind our "repayment" we make for our university. We love it and we know the establishment of @ is an inevitable trend. The reason is simple: how can UM develop further, as what our Rector said, withour the world famous student organization?  In other words, a worldknown university can no perform without first-class organizations! So long as we are here, we appreciate our life here in UM and especailly lucky to be one of the larger resource user--HC student. I should and have to do more to payback.

With Professor Udani's help, with our joint-efforts, and the unforgettable encouraging words we collected from the questionaire (it's so touching! Some are like" you are the dream-seaker, and you deserve our support, hold on, guys" ; some are like "we can't wait for your success"; "we need you!").

I cannot say I'm always strong-minded in bringing @ it. I feel hestated sometimes, thinking about my very likely potential bad academic performances with less time left after taking over @. I even feel frustrated when peers and surounders give me so much trust and power, which results in my high preasure because of my afraidness of letting them down. But, now, after collecting so much encouraging feedbacks. I'm confident and will keep diligent in bringing @ to UM! My dear friends, no matter what difficulties are waiting for me, I'll try my best to hold on because of all of you!!!
